Birth Doula

Hannah Hollis

Hi, I’m Hannah—a mom to five wonderful tiny humans and a dedicated birth doula serving families along the Gulf Coast.

For the past three years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside parents through pregnancy, labor, and those first tender postpartum moments. My own experiences as a mother—of joy, challenges, strength, and everything in between—deeply shaped my passion for this work. I know firsthand how transformative it is to feel truly seen, heard, and supported during birth.

My goal as your doula is simple yet powerful: to help you step into labor feeling empowered, fully informed, and completely supported. I’ll work hand-in-hand with you, your partner, and your birth team to bring your vision for your birth to life, whether that’s a calm home birth, an unmedicated journey, or anything in between that aligns with your home birth plans.

Pregnancy, labor, and birth don’t have to feel scary or overwhelming. With evidence-based information, comforting techniques, and unwavering presence, I want to help you discover your own strength and confidence.

I’d love to hear your story and explore how we can create the supportive birth experience you deserve!

Therese Fread

Therese Fread has been providing pregnancy, birth, newborn care, and lactation services to women and families across the United States and internationally for over three decades. A traditional birthworker since 1987 and a doula since 1993, Therese brings a rare depth of experience rooted in cultural immersion, hands-on care, and lifelong devotion to birth work.

Native to Louisiana, Therese spent her early childhood in Folsom, Louisiana, before traveling throughout the United States and Mexico with her parents and siblings while engaged in humanitarian and missions work. During her young adulthood, she spent significant time in India and Mongolia, with a brief stay in China—experiences that profoundly shaped her understanding of birth, family, and community across cultures. She later settled in Minnesota, where she married and raised six children. Her personal birth history includes three hospital births, three home births, and several miscarriages.

Over the years, Therese has served families in many capacities, including as a birth assistant, monitrice, placenta encapsulation specialist, incorporating massage therapy and aromatherapy, certified nursing assistant, and hospice and end-of-life care. She is Spinning Babies Certified, trained in Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation, and certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid. She is also trained in basic American Sign Language with a desire to serve the Deaf community.

Therese is the founder of Mother Ease Tea Company and the Mother Ease Postpartum Herbal Healing Package, thoughtfully designed to support postpartum recovery through traditional herbal remedies, nourishment, and gentle, restorative care during the fourth trimester. Through her own lived experiences of birth, loss, and healing, Therese brings deep compassion and practical wisdom to every family. She believes that recovery is a sacred transition—one that deserves time, care, and respect—laying the foundation for long-term maternal health.

In 2020, following her husband’s retirement from the military, Therese and her family returned to her hometown area in Louisiana. They are currently building a small blueberry farm in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. In 2024, Therese joined the local midwifery community as a student midwife, and in 2025 she entered a formal apprenticeship with highly respected local midwives, receiving her official Louisiana State Approved Midwife Apprenticeship License.

Therese's work is grounded in faith, family, tradition, and service. Her interests include religious history, military life, homeschooling, sustainable living, gardening, foraging, natural healing, herbalism, homeopathy, essential oils, fermentation, cooking, baking, fiber arts, jewelry making, Deaf culture, American Sign Language, foreign languages, and lifelong learning.

J'Nai Areana

I believe that birth is one of the most magnificent and magical experiences a woman can have. My goal is to be your "Birth Sherpa"—a steady guide on your climb to parenthood who helps navigate the natural anxieties of the birthing experience and transforms them into a journey of empowerment and joy.

Having birthed two of my own three children, I've experienced firsthand how monumental it feels to take charge of your own journey. I'll never forget the moment I was the first to reach down and touch my son; to catch him as he entered the world. That sense of strength and relief is exactly what I want to help every mother find within herself.

I love moms, I love pregnancy, and I love babies. I am a hands-on, adaptable partner who is there to be who you need in the moment—whether that's a coach in the thick of it or a quiet presence that lets you breathe a sigh of relief. Together with Grace, I am dedicated to educating and empowering you to ensure you and your baby have the best, healthiest start possible, because children are our future.

Birth Doula

Grace Cooksey

Hi, my name is Grace Cooksey! I was born in Texas and was welcomed into the world by my six older siblings. We have lived in Oregon and New Mexico, and now in Louisiana.

Growing up, my church was full of big families just like mine. During prayer time I would always raise my hand and ask if we could pray for expectant mamas. Then I would write "pregnencys" on my prayer list.

My fascination with health, birth, and living life naturally grew as my sisters had children. Now I'm an aunt to 14+ nieces and nephews. I received my Birth Doula Certification from AWomanWhoServes - and that's exactly what I'm here to do.

Birth Doula

Tara Kinchen

As a mother of five, I have experienced a wide range of birth journeys firsthand. Combined with my Birth Doula training through DONA International, the support I offer is a unique blend of evidence-based practices and traditional wisdom that embraces a holistic approach to maternal care.

As your doula, I will guide you in navigating the many options that arise throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. I am here to help you stay grounded, informed, and supported while honoring and advocating for your ideal birth experience with grace and intention.

I provide steady, uninterrupted support for the birthing mother during one of life’s most profound transitions. I am fully present with you, a calm, reassuring presence to help you move through this natural process without fear.

Together, we will draw on ancient wisdom and back to roots principles to help you feel confident and prepared.

My purpose is to ease both physical and emotional stress, creating space for the most supported and empowering birth experience possible.

Birth Doula

Kristin Glapion

I am a midwifery student and doula with a deep passion for caring for women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood. I believe every mother deserves to feel safe, seen, heard, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout her journey.

My approach to birth work is rooted in compassion, emotional presence, connection, and leading with love. I am passionate about creating calm and nurturing spaces where women feel deeply supported and cared for while honoring the unique experience of every family.

I am especially drawn to the softer side of care. The reassurance, encouragement, comfort, and steady support that can help mothers feel grounded and at peace during some of the most transformative moments of their lives.

As I continue my training in midwifery and birth support, I remain committed to providing heart-centered, relationship-based care that helps mothers feel held not only during birth, but long after.
